  OCTOBER NEWS & NOTES

Welcome Wildcats,
As we prepare for another exciting year of Wildcats basketball, I want to share with you what our program has been working on and what you can expect for this season. At the heart of our program is our philosophy: success is earned through hard work, toughness—both mental and physical—and togetherness. Every player is expected to give their best effort every day, on and off the court, and to support their teammates in building a culture of unity, trust, and accountability.

Our players and coaching staff have been dedicating themselves to understanding what it truly means to be a Wildcat Student-Athlete. This includes not only basketball skill development but also leadership, discipline, and character growth. The team has been progressing in the weight room, competing in Fall League games, and participating in structured drills and practices—all designed to prepare them for the challenges of this season.

Message to Parents:
Your support is essential to the success of our program. One of the most powerful ways you can help is by becoming a positive and constructive cheerleader for your son and the entire team. Focus on encouraging effort, hustle, and teamwork rather than just outcomes or stats. By doing so, you help create an environment where players feel confident, motivated, and valued.

Equally important is trusting the coaching staff as we implement new systems and strategies. Change and growth take time, and your trust allows players to adapt, learn, and develop without distraction. Together, with positive support from parents and clear guidance from coaches, we can foster a culture of growth, resilience, and enjoyment of the game.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Coach Fuentes directly.

Booster Club Support:
Our dedicated Booster Members have been working tirelessly to prepare for the season, supporting our athletes, staff, and program in every way possible. They are also excited to welcome new members to join in supporting this year and into the future as leadership transitions take place. Your involvement helps ensure a strong foundation for our Wildcats on and off the court. Please contact Matt Roberts or Mellissa Miller with any questions.

Tips for Players to Earn More Time on the Court:
While basketball skills are important, understanding and applying these three key areas will help you maximize your playing time:

Value and care for the basketball: Protect every possession and minimize turnovers.
Be a tough rebounder: Compete aggressively for every ball on both ends of the court.
Be a resilient defender: Stay relentless on defense—never give up on plays and maintain intensity, even when facing challenges.
Mastering these habits shows your commitment to the team and sets you apart as a player coaches can rely on in critical moments.

I am excited about the growth and opportunities ahead this season. With dedication, toughness, and togetherness, our Wildcats will not only compete at a high level but also develop the skills, confidence, and character that will serve them well beyond basketball.
