HENRY FUENTES - HEAD COACH
Coach Henry Fuentes joins Mesquite High School as the new Head Coach of the Boys’ Varsity Basketball team. An Arizona native, he brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. Coach Fuentes is committed to developing student-athletes not only as skilled basketball players but also as individuals, fostering a positive, supportive, and disciplined environment that encourages growth on and off the court.

Prior to joining Mesquite, Coach Fuentes served at Desert Ridge High School as Assistant Varsity Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach, where he played a key role in the growth and success of their basketball program. Known for his leadership, passion for the game, and dedication to student development, Coach Fuentes is excited to bring his vision, expertise, and energy to the Wildcats.

Coach Henry Fuentes – Coaching Philosophy
“I believe in building a program where success is earned through hard work, where every player commits to giving their best effort every day on and off the court. I value toughness, both mental and physical, teaching student-athletes to face challenges with resilience, determination, and a never-give-up attitude. At the heart of my approach is togetherness—basketball is a team sport, and I emphasize unity, trust, and accountability, ensuring that every player supports one another and contributes to a culture of shared success. My goal is to develop athletes who are not only skilled and competitive but also disciplined, confident, and ready to succeed in life beyond basketball.” Let’s go Wildcats!

Mike Quezada – Assistant Head Coach
A Chandler native and former Chandler High athlete in both football and basketball, Coach Q. brings his passion for the game to Mesquite High School as a first-year coach.

Now a Phoenix resident, Coach Q. has strong ties to the Valley’s basketball community. Over the past three years, he has developed his coaching expertise as the owner of Level Up Training, a basketball training business where he has worked with athletes of all ages. In addition, he has officiated high school basketball games across the Valley and coached the boys’ basketball team at Arizona College Prep. Middle School, gaining a broad perspective on the game.

Coach Q. is excited to join the Mesquite family and looks forward to contributing to the growth and success of the Wildcats’ basketball program.

Anthony BelCHER – Head Coach
Coach Anthony Belcher joins Mesquite Basketball for his first season as a Junior Varsity Coach. A resident of Gilbert, AZ Coach Belcher brings a wealth of experience both on and off the court. After competing for 4 years of high school sports including basketball, football, baseball and track and field. Coach Belcher earned a walk-on position for the Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks Football team (2008-2009) and Track and Field program (2008-2010). His hard work paid off, earning him the honor of becoming a 2-time letterman and Big Sky & WAC Champion in Track and Field. Determined to reach even greater heights, Coach Belcher secured a scholarship to Boise State University's Track and Field program (2010-2012), finishing with a Bachelor’s in Communication.

Following college Coach Belcher has spent countless years coaching multiple different sports from youth little league to high school. With 10+ years of coaching experience, he has inspired countless young athletes. From Assistant Head Track and Field Coach at Crismon High School (including Jr. High) to Varsity Defensive Back Coach (Football), Coach Belcher has left a positive mark on every team he has been a part of. His dedication to youth development doesn't stop there. Coach Belcher serves as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Crismon Jr. High School (7th grade and 8th grade).

Coach Belcher's story is one of dedication, talent, and a passion for nurturing the next generation of athletic stars. His diverse skill set, combined with his experience and enthusiasm, make him an invaluable asset to the Wildcat program. He is a loving husband to Ivyenna Belcher and proud father to Davis Jae-Anthony Belcher and Daeton Quis Belcher.

Chris Mendivil – Head Coach
Coach Chris Mendivil joins the Mesquite Basketball program for his inaugural season as a coach. He brings six seasons of experience as an assistant coach for both the Varsity/JV Boys and Varsity Girls teams at Leading Edge Academy in Gilbert. In addition, he has coached at the youth level, highlighted by a state championship victory with the girls’ middle school team at Leading Edge Academy.

A native of Tempe, AZ, Coach Mendivil has a strong basketball background and a deep commitment to player development. His playing career includes time at California Baptist University, Fullerton College, and Mesa Community College, providing him with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with his athletes.
